Online CPLD Reporting

In lieu of annual CPLD (Continuous Professional Learning & Development, formerly Mandatory Professional Development) reporting forms, a website has been developed that will allow CMA members to input their CPLD hours online.  Beginning on Monday, July 14, 2008 you may access this website at any time and on a regular basis to report your CPLD hours as you accumulate them.  The reporting deadline for each fiscal year continues to be September 1.

To enter the website, click here or paste the following link into your browser: http://www.cma-manitoba.com/e106/source/CPLD/CPLDInput.cfm?return=1.  You will be prompted to log in.

Login – first initial, last name (all lowercase; omit spaces and comma)
Password – member ID number

Your projected end date for the current 3-year reporting period appears directly above the CPLD input table.  Please refer to the CPLD Policy Guidelines for the minimum total hours required in your reporting period.  You may use this website to submit any hours you have accumulated since July 1, 2007.  To submit CPLD hours accumulated prior to this, please use the old method of reporting.  Important inputting guidelines appear at the top of the screen.  Please review them thoroughly before you begin inputting.

In addition to this new method of reporting, we are introducing a new system for classifying CPLD activities.  Beginning July 1, 2008 we will no longer use the ‘Formal’ and ‘Informal’ categories.  Please note however, if you will be reporting online for 2007/08 activities, you will have to convert your CPLD activities to the new classifications.  A detailed listing of acceptable types of professional development is accessible by clicking on the link above the CPLD input table or by clicking here.  Though the categories have changed, the criteria for deciding which activities qualify as CPLD remains the same; is new learning involved and is that learning relevant to one’s profession?

When you log on to the website, these new categories will appear as the header for each row:

1.        Advanced Study Courses
2.
       Seminars, Workshops and Conferences
3.
       Teaching Preparation
4.
       Technical Presentations/Publications
5.
       Volunteer and Community Leadership
6.
       Reading or Research
7.
       Public Practice

An additional row appears below ‘Public Practice’ that summarizes CPLD hours that have been previously reported for the current 3-year reporting period under the former ‘Formal’ and ‘Informal’ categories.  The fields in this row will not be able to be edited.  The sole purpose is to provide members with a more accurate summary of their total hours reported to-date.

CPLD INPUTTING INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Decide which category your CPLD activity should be classified under.

Step 2: Enter the date, if applicable, and a brief description of the activity in the ‘Session Title or Description of Activity’ column, beside the appropriate category.  (This field must be completed.)

Examples:
Sep. 2 – Dec. 5/08 – Athabasca Executive MBA Course

Nov. 5/08 – CMA Members' Conference (full)
2008/09 CMA MB Board member
Feb. 2/09 – Public Practice Review

Step 3: Enter the total hours for the activity in the ‘Input Hours’ column.  (Report nearest full hour(s))

Step 4: Click on ‘submit’ at the bottom of the screen.

Note: If you have more than one activity to input for the same category, you will need to enter the activities one at a time, i.e. complete steps 2 – 4 for each activity.

If you have CPLD hours to input in more than one category, you may enter one activity for each category before clicking on ‘submit’.

Two different reports are available for you to print.  The Summary Report is basically a printer-friendly version of the CPLD input table.  The Transaction Summary Report lists all reported activities by CPLD category.
